I do not like the new version of iTunes. DO NOT LIKE. Can't get 'shuffle' to work. GRRRRR.

TUG campaign

travel bee and her hubby got a gps for christmas last year.

now, travel bee is a relatively comfortable person with technology.

but twice since [that we know of] she's been in the car with her gps and has either gotten lost or needed directions, and not used her gps.

the first time, she got lost within our home county, and ended up pulling over for directions instead of using her gps. 

this past wednesday i got a text from her while she was on the road. in all caps: WHERE IS [INSERT CITY,] PA? NORTH SOUTH EAST WEST?

second text from her later that day before i could get back to her: NEVER MIND FOUND IT

to which joy bee reminded me, as we sat over lunch on friday discussing this, that all travel bee had to do was put her cell down for a second in the car -- since she's always in the passenger seat, hubby always drives -- pull out the gps and plug in the city name.

faster than i could ever google it for her and text back.

so i'm starting a campaign: travel bees for using gps's. TUG.

it can only make the lives of my sisters and i easier.

why verizon are geniuses, chapter 26718627816

i do love verizon. i mean, i get service on the 4/5/6. i can chat to odd bee underground between 28th and 23rd streets. that's fab. but they're also often dumber than a box of rocks.

latest example. i upgraded to this world edition blackberry so that when i am abroad i can use it. so en route to jfk last week, i ring the verizon peeps. just to make sure we're sorted, so i can get email and use the phone while i'm there.

hmm, they say. there seems to be a problem.

we forgot to give you the sim card that would enable you to use your phone abroad. but! we can fedex you one. you have a doorman, right? he can sign for it? you'll have it tomorrow.

hmm, i say, now in the terminal. hmm. that doesn't help me, does it?

and so off i went with a world edition phone that was suddenly downgraded to continent edition.

Happy Birthday to the iPod. Six years ago today the iPod was released. What did we ever do without. I think it is about time for me to get a new iPod. I think I have one of the originals.

It has been a while since I have posted on a regular basis. There has been a lot of things that I have seen that I want to post. So...here goes things.

1. Is Razorlight no more? It looks like Johnny Borrell thinking he is too good for his band. Sorry ChickBees.
2. Engrish makes me remember all of the great weird times in Japan.
3. I am going to spend an evening with the devil. I am going to see Danzig in concert next week!!!
4. I am reading a really great book. This Is Your Brain On Music is a must for anyone who wants to know about why we like music.
5. I need to read the Slash autobiography The Dirt.
6. If you get to know me you know that I love new gadgets. I think I might have found my next cell phone. Mini Blackberry!!! Very cute.
7. What hell are the Yankees thinking? How can you even consider firing Torre (FYI...I am a Yankees hater).
8. Back on October 4, 1982 at the Pindar of Wakefield Pub a little known band named Pogue Mahone took the the stage for the first time. 25 years later The Pogues are still rocking.
9. The Joy Divison biopic Control is released in the US on October 19th.
10. Congrats to JoeBee and his Kentucky Wildcats for beating #1 LSU in a great game on Saturday.

update: obsessed yet overwhelmed with new crackberry.

yes, i am so late to the game, i know. but it's so gorg and so sleek and...when i whipped it out today, everyone -- from the security guards at hearst to our car service driver -- oohed and ahhed, and said, is that the new crackberry? and i proudly said, why, yes it is!

however -- we have a grave, secret problem, my bees, and that is: it's all an illusion -- for i have no clue how to use the thing yet.

it bings and pings and whirrs and vibrates. i missed all kinds of calls and texts [sorry to all]. i have no idea how to make the messages stop coming in. it's like a tidal wave. even now it's sitting on my desk buzzing away. hush, you!

maybe i need another teacher, like my italian teacher.

after going through 4 palm treos in two years and realizing at last that they're pieces of crap, i finally said adios and took the crackberry plunge. today -- thanks to rol-bee's reco -- i'm in the process of figuring out how to use this new blackberry 8830 world-edition. not to geek out too much, but it's super light, thin, works all over the world [hurrah!]... very cool but a bit foreign.

the bad thing about the crackberry: no cameraphone or videocamera. so sad! i can store multimedia files, but cannot take them.
